Women’s Issues & MATERNAL MENTAL HEALTH
Life is hard. Women face unique challenges. Let’s talk about those and all the difficult thoughts and feelings that come along with those challenges.
…the struggles of pregnancy and motherhood; the desire for children while not yet in a relationship; struggling to conceive
…the battle against loving our bodies in a world that sends us very different messages & comparison runs rampant
…the daily (sometimes obvious, and sometimes more discreet) battle against sexism & oppression that show up in the workplace, in relationships and in media
…the verbal, emotional, psychological, financial, sexual, &/or physical abuse from childhood that may also be present in a current romantic relationship
…the impossible task of trusting yourself after years of hearing that you misunderstood a situation or “don’t be so dramatic”
We can’t change the crappy parts of the world or our past. We surely can’t change the people around us. However, we can focus on, and capitalize on, all that we can control-
how we relate to our thoughts and emotions
how we advocate for ourselves
how we set and maintain healthy boundaries
how we expand our language for saying “no”
how we honestly communicate with others.
